How It Plays

Auction / Bidding

Players bid against each other for cards, tiles, or resources — knowing when to go big and when to fold is the key.

Hexagon Grid

The board uses hexagons instead of squares — this gives you more directions to move and think about.

Income

You earn resources automatically each round based on what you've built up — the snowball effect is real.

Investment

You put resources into ventures that pay off later — patience and timing can lead to huge returns.

Network and Route Building

You connect locations to form networks — the bigger and smarter your network, the more points you earn.

Random Production

Resources or effects are generated randomly each round — you never know exactly what you'll get to work with.

Stock Holding

You invest in companies or assets that change in value — buy low, sell high, and watch your portfolio grow!

About This Game

Published exclusively in the Autumn 2021 edition of TraXX Mainline magazine, Hiawatha Gauge is a cube rails game set along the routes of the historic Milwaukee Road Hiawatha trains. Featuring the proven Irish Gauge game system, this is a "magazine game" variant on a small map with only three companies. You’ll need a copy of Irish Gauge to play this game.
